Lady Aravis, sometimes called Aravis Tarkheena
08 November 2007 @ 06:45 pm
Aravis had had a terrible day. Or, well, a terrible Ethics class. She still wasn't sure what had happened, but it had left her angry and upset and almost crying.

Which was something that she absolutely would not be doing in front of the class. Or anyone. At all.

What she would be doing, however, was eat chocolate. Which she was. Quite a bit of chocolate.

Aravis waited until the timing seemed right, then tried to catch the eyes of her friends. She leaned forward to murmur a quick warning to Hwin, then gave a sharp whistle and drew her scimitar as they turned on the guards trailing them.

A change of plan )

[Part two of this post. THIS IS THE LAST PREPLAY OMG I PROMISE I AM DONE SPAMMING YOUR FLIST until I put up the actually-live-played post tonight. Freaking Narniaverse time, condensing a week to two days! As with all the others, NFB, NFI, OOC = woo.]

Aravis's body ached with Hwin's every step. The past few days' pampering had done nothing for her sore muscles or bruising, and the tight, opulent clothing that she had been dressed in for the trip wasn't helping.

Neither were the guards making up half their party.

Aravis was just praying that the plan had spread through the group, and fingered the hilt of her scimitar, tucked securely under her skirts and behind her legs.

She hated riding side saddle, but it did have at least this one advantage.

The trip back home )

Aravis had sat numbly through the stupid banquet, and honestly, once she was shown to the quarters they'd given her, she wanted nothing more than to fall into bed.

That unfortunately wasn't going to happen, as instead she was presented with slave girls to help her into the intricately and scantily cut nightgown that had been crafted for her wedding night a year ago. It wasn't as though she'd grown that much, and a little snugness where she had grown was even better.

Then she let them lead her through a darkened hall until they knocked on a door, and scampered off, giggling. Aravis could guess where she was, and knocked herself. "Seely, it's me."

Aravis had shed her veil and was curled up in a chair at the end of the hall with her second glass of wine. It wasn't helping her relax at all. Probably had to do something with the fact that she'd done everything in her power to not be married at fifteen, and yet she was sitting next to her shiny new husband.

It was nice to see her friends, though. "How did you all even get here? Horses, I know, since apparently Gavin can't manage to sit on one."

In which there is exposition, and Aravis's friend hits on everyone )

Aravis wanted her mother.

That was the only thought that she was able to deal with, as her aching, groggy body was snatched from the saddle and prodded into the Tisroc's palace in Tashbaan. She remembered the first time she came here, when she was a child, and her mother held her hand in the litter as they peeked out. She'd murmured in Aravis's ear that some day, she would live in Tashbaan, when Rishti was the Lord of Calavar and she had made her home in the city. Aravis, in her childish amazement, had thought this sounded wonderful.

Now, she was being shoved along. She ached in every sense, and longed for nothing more than a bath and a warm bed. She idly wondered if she would see the Tisroc himself here, if he was to authorize her execution in whatever way.

They reached an ornate door in a dim hallway she recognized, and through her fuzziness, Aravis wondered who she was to see. Surely not Ahoshta, before the wedding. Perhaps Rabadash. She could use a laugh.

However, once she was shoved in, scimitar against the small of her back, she no longer felt anything even vaguely near amusement. Her knees hit the cool, stone floor and she dropped her head immediately, feeling emotion for the first time as she glanced at the figures seated in the chairs beside the hearth.

Aravis snuggled closer to the warm form in the tent with her -- not that she had much choice, given the close quarters, but she would have done the same even in a roomy bed.

"Morning," she mumbled, seemingly addressing Seely's shoulder.

Sleepy, adorable morning wakeup time. In which nothing bad happens. Really. )

Aravis was still debating whether she should go to the race in the park later on, but in the meantime, she was fine with continuing work on the letter home. She'd still not decided who it should be sent to, as either of the twins would undoubtedly laugh at the clothing predicament.

Aravis was very pleased to be back in the dorms. She'd liked the cabins, certainly, but there were advantages to having a room to yourself and one other person. (And in this case, a cat as well.)

She'd enjoyed herself in the cabins, however. She had tried ice cream, which had evidently been an emergency situation, and laughed at Gavin and Luke and Rikku and Seely.

She'd gone on patrol with Mel and learned the truth about chocolate cows. That confrontation had somehow turned into her telling her story, though she was still not sorry for having told him.

And last night, she'd visited a final campfire, and met quite a few people.

Now, bit tired, she flopped onto the bed she'd already claimed as hers and idly started doodling in a small book. It may have been plans for getting a cow into a dorm room. It may not have been.

[open, especially for roomie!]
